Mapawa Nature Park, Cagayan de Oro City

It was my first time to visit the Mapawa Nature Park during the stay here in Cagayan de Oro City of one of my girlfriend's bestfriend and her boyfriend from Surigao del Sur. Both of them actually asked me about the best adventures the city can offer so I told them to try the longest zipline in Asia at the Dahilayan Zipzone Park or the Multiple-course zipline at the Jatico Adventure Extreme Adrenaline. Skybridge from 100 feet to 400 feet of Macahambus Adventure Park. Plus, the Whitewater Rafting Adventure which Cagayan de Oro is best known for that having the title of "Whitewater Rafting Capital of the Philippines" and even the caving experience at Initao National Park which houses 4 natural caves.

One that catches my thought is not the well known adventures of Cagayan de Oro but one that is nature-oriented. So we decided to go to the Mapawa Nature Park.

What's nice about this place is that Mapawa Nature Park can offer a rejuvenating and relaxing atmosphere to those who desire and seeks for peace of mind, solidarity and relaxation. The idea of this is that, the place itself is a hidden jewel located inside the wildlife-forest area of the city.

TRIVIA:
Mapawa Nature Park is owned and managed by the family of Emmanuel N. Pelaez Sr. and is located at Sitio Mapawa, Brgy., Cugman, Cagayan de Oro City which is a few kilometers from the Gardens of Malasag Eco-Tourism Village.

From the Cagayan de Oro City proper, it will take around 30-40 minutes for you to visit the place.

The park actually has an entrance fee of P50 per person and open around 7am to 5pm (the most) daily. But you can actually stay there and avail their package for only P650.00 per person (minimum of 5 persons) which includes the accommodation at ranch house, park entrance and breakfast.

Mapawa offers activities such as:
Zipline Package: P325.00 per person
Horseback Riding:
      - 15 minutes for P100.00 per person
      - 30 minutes for P125.00 per person
      - 1 hour for P200.00 per person
Swimming Pool: P75.00 per person

GROUP ACTIVITIES:
- Canyoneering Package
- Ecological Trek
- Bonfire
- Camping (P100 per person) minimum of 10 persons entrance exclusive
- Obstacle Course
- Horseback Trail Ride

If you want to visit the park, I suggest that you need to rent a vehicle (taxi, car or van) since the only public transportation in the area is the motorcycle. During our trip, we contracted the driver for about P50.00 back and forth payment. It will take about 5-6 kilometers from the Highway of Cugman and some of the roads has not been cemented.

My experience during our Mapawa Nature Park Trip with my girlfriend, friends, my brother and cousin is a real elated one. I even enjoyed the trip.

Now I can say with a smile, "I've been here and will be coming back again."
