"THROWBACK" PAGCOR unveils 4th National Photography Competition

"Do you want to travel back in time and relive the Philippines' glorious past?" 

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has officially unveiled the 4th PAGCOR National Photography Competition with this year's theme, "Throwback" as part of its continuing commitment in promoting the tourism industry, culture and the arts of the country.

With this year's theme, "Throwback", the entries must tell exciting stories which depicts Filipino traits, time-honored customs, historical sites, and the likes. Accordingly, the photos should highlight only positive things or images that are reminiscent of the Filipino's traditional way of life.

Submission of entries will officially start on March 10, 2016 to June 15, 2016 with two categories, the Conventional which includes photos taken using all types of traditional or conventional cameras like Single Lens Reflex (SLR) or Digital SLR, compact cameras, and the like, while the Mobile which covers photos taken using apps in all types of mobile devices like smartphones and tablets.

The contest is open to all Filipino nationals and also for the foreign nationals provided they present a valid passport and Philippine address where they stay during the contest period. Participants must be at least 18 years old as of January 01, 2016.

"Each participant is allowed to submit a MAXIMUM OF TWO ENTRIES ONLY which means a participant can submit two entries under one category or he/she can submit one entry each under the conventional and mobile categories. Entries to be submitted in both categories must be in full color not allowing the Black and White or Sepia.

Contest participants must register online at the official website of PAGCOR (www.pagcor.ph) and fill out the 4th PAGCOR National Photography Competition online registration entry form. PAGCOR WILL ONLY ACCEPT ENTRIES SUBMITTED ONLINE THROUGH THE PAGCOR WEBSITE. THOSE THAT WILL BE SUBMITTED THROUGH OTHER MEANS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AND WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY DISQUALIFIED."

A total of P1,460,000.00 cash prizes to be given away, the submitted entries will be judged based on adherence to the theme/content, creativity and originality, photographic quality, composition, and visual impact. There will be 4 regional screenings (Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao, Metro Manila) wherein the panel of judges will select the top five (5) entries for both categories that will eventually move on to the grand finals. 12 grand winners will be chosen and will win P75,000.00 each for conventional category with trophy while 12 grand winners will also be chosen for the mobile category and will win P30,000.00 each with trophy. Non-winning entries will each receive a consolation prize of P20,000.00 each with certificate of merit for the conventional category and P5,000.00 with certificate of merit for the mobile category.

Special prizes will also be given such as the "Most Popular Photo". There will be one winner for the Conventional category and one winner for Mobile category which will be selected through online voting via PAGCOR Facebook page. Each of the winners for the special prize will receive P5,000.00 cash prize plus certificate of recognition.
