4th Kabaybayonan Festival: Celebrating Opol's Summer Beach Event
The Municipality of Opol in the province of Misamis Oriental is a popular destination for beach lovers, and has been a weekend getaway for families and friends wanting to go for a swim, or just being laid back, and enjoying the majestic view of the Macajalar Bay. Also, Opol has been getting its chunk from the fame of the province' tourism industry, thanks to the consistency of the province' tourism slogan "Explore MisOr", and the hand-on-hand partnership of the Local Government Unit of Opol, and private organizations and establishments.

But don't you know the this famous beach stretch celebrates their own festival particularly during summer?
Kabaybayonan Festival, now on it's 4th year is Municipality of Opol's very own event that celebrates during the summer season, technically right after the Holy Week celebration. Created to give back to the environment, and the community, Kabaybayonan Festival started last 2014 in a three-day event celebration with different sets of activities highlighting the festival; it was formerly known as Summer Festival which had its beginning in the year 2002.
Kabaybayonan Festival's purpose is to promote the Municipality of Opol as a destination not only for beach goers, and also during the summer break, but as well for anyone who wanted to explore the municipality as a whole.

This year, the 4th Kabaybayonan Festival is scheduled on a 2-day celebration that will start from April 26 to 27, 2019 at Taboc, the longest fine sand beach stretch in the province. This will officially start with a community mass at 08:00am located in Marvilla Beach Resort with a national anthem and acknowledgement of participants, visitors, and sponsors.
Words of welcome will be conducted by Hon. Felixberto R. Macasarte, Jr., the Committee on Tourism Chairman, followed by an overview of the Kabaybayonan Festival by the Municipal Tourism Officer Mr Kim S. Lazo. A ceremonial toss for beach volley competition, and launching of Skimboarding Tournament will then be slated by the Municipal Mayor himself Hon. Maximino B. Seno with Hon. Chizarina M. Ortigoza, the SB members, Barangay Captain's and SK Chairman.
The 4th Kabaybayonan Festival will highlight different sets of events prepared for visitors and spectators that includes the 2nd Open Skim Fest Tournament in partnership with Team TAUSI and Apple Tree Resort and Hotel as the official event venue, Beach Volley Contest at Marvilla Beach Resort, Boat Dressing Contest with a parade from Baybayon Beach to Marvilla Beach, Duathlon (Swim and Run), Community Wide Clean-up Drive, Kite Fest, Mr and Ms Kabaybayonan 2019, and the very own Beach Dancing which is a product of the former Opol Summer Festival.
