Because of its marvelous craftsmanship and dedication to the Christ the Redeemer, many countries around the globe replicated the statue as a sign of inspiration and awed. Surprisingly, replicas of the Christ the Redeemer can also be found in the Philippines. And what's with it being surprising? It's perfectly crafted!
Atop of the hill of Barangay Bulua, the largest Barangay in Cagayan de Oro City where the city is famous for the white water rafting and other extreme adventures lies a perfect replica of the physical attributes of the Christ the Redeemer of Rio de Janeiro from the face itself, to the wide open arms, and through its pedestal known as the Santuario de Redentor (Sanctuary of the Redeemer).
The 10-hectare land where the replica is standing is owned by the Golden Haven, a memorial sanctuary that showcases the gardens of the world and a member of the Villar Group of Companies.
The official opening of the Santuario de Redentor was commenced last May 01, 2012 at 5:00 in the afternoon. Fast forward today, it is interesting to know that the 30 feet tall replica of the Cristo de Redentor is emerging as a tourist destination which visitors are impressed by its wonders.
Same as the original Christ the Redeemer Statue in Rio de Janeiro, a sense of gratitude and grandeur will experience upon seeing this replica while the sky is painting a wondrous hue to its breathtaking panorama.
TOUCHDOWN:
From the National Highway of Bulua, particularly in the Barangay Hall, you can take a "habal-habal" ride (a single motorcycled-type of vehicle) for P8.00 per way to visit the location. The area is a bit near the ABS-CBN Broadcasting Center Northern Mindanao. You can also do the hiking because it's just few kilometers from the highway. The ideal to visit the statue is before or after visiting another magnificent statue of the Divine Mercy Shrine which is believed to be the Tallest Divine Mercy Shrine in the world.
