South East Asia is synonymous with exoticism, natural beauty, and romanticism. Travellers looking for a romantic break with their significant other needn't look any further. In this article we list the five most romantic destinations in this part of the world.

 Hong Kong  Hong_Kong_at_night.jpg
Bustling, thriving, and impressive are the adjectives that best describe Hong Kong. Visitors can treat themselves to a romantic stay at one of the luxury hotels located around Pacific Place, in skyscraper-dense central Hong Kong. An evening cruise around magnificent Victoria harbour is a compulsory activity that will leave visitors with unforgettable memories of this cosmopolitan city.

Sagada, Philippines  Sagada-big-waterfall.JPGSagada feels remote and exotic. This magic town is surrounded by waterfalls, rice terraces, caves, and valleys, so the destination is perfect for couples who love the outdoors. It is best to fly into Clark airport and get on a bus to Baguio, where visitors need to change to a local bus to Sagada. Travelling time is approximately 10 hours from Clark.

Bali, Indonesia  Viceroy-Bali-Resort_1.jpgBali is mysterious, captivating, and undoubtedly romantic. In fact, many couples choose to get married or to go on a honeymoon in this Indonesian island, so the local tourist industry caters perfectly well to those who are looking for a special holiday with their special someone. Bali's airport is located in the south of the island, and from there it is only a 15-minute drive to Jimbaran, a former fishing village that has been developed into an exclusive area full of luxury hotels and resorts. Private villas overlooking the white sandy beach are also available.

Sentosa, Singapore  sentosa-beach-sunset-full.jpg
Although Singapore is better known for its high levels of development and its modern urban landscape, Sentosa island is the perfect (and most romantic) antidote for couples who are looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. The island is a natural paradise, where lush green hills meet postcard-like beaches and where visitors can enjoy some of the most spectacular sunsets in Singapore. There are three ways to reach the island from mainland Singapore: by public bus, by monorail, and the most romantic of all, by cable car. All three depart from Harbour Front underground station. For a truly romantic dinner, visitors can book one of the “dining” cable car cabins, which offer 360-degree views over the island, the harbour, and beyond.

KohRong, Cambodia

Cambodia's islands are just as beautiful and inspiring as their Thai counterparts, only less well known, which means that visitors can expect unspoilt beaches and privacy pretty much in every island. KohRong's main highlights are its peacefulness and its twenty-three stunning beaches, which will surprise travellers with their gorgeous powder white sand. KohRong can be reached from Sihanoukville by ferry. There are no roads in this island, so hiking, snorkelling, and enjoying candle-lit dinners are the main activities.

Cameron Highlands, Malaysia Tea_Plantation.jpg Set amidst verdant tea plantations, the Cameron Highlands offer a respite from routine and stress and invite visitors to unwind. The area is made up of several hill stations and small towns, although the most popular gateways are Ipoh and Tanah Rata. These can be reached from Kuala Lumpur by bus, shuttle, or train, and the trip takes approximately 4.5 hours. A visit to the tea plantations is a must, but visitors should not forget to include nature walks among forests and waterfalls, and visits to rose gardens or to butterfly farms.
