SHORE-BREAKS 3: The Annual Skim boarding Competition Returns

(Northern Mindanao, Philippines)- The Annual Skim-boarding Competition and considered as the biggest skim-boarding tournament in Northern Mindanao returns in full scale this year. Organized by Apple Tree Resort and Hotel, the Premier Resort in Metro Cagayan de Oro in partnership with Tangcalagan Enterprises, Business Week Mindanao, Mindanao Daily News, CHOOSE Philippines (ABS-CBN’s Travel Insider), WhenInManila.com, and My Life On Board (the leading board-sports site in the Philippines), SHORE-BREAKS, A Skim-boarding Competition will be launching its 3^rd installment on May 20-21, 2017 at the Shoreline of the said Resort.

The event was created last 2015 in order to promote the sport to Northern Mindanao and provides opportunities to the youth to actively engage in programs and activities promoting the quality of life. The event also creates and develops an understanding of the importance of sport in the pursuit of a healthy and active lifestyle and to persevere in order to achieve success. Last year, SHORE BREAKS 2 was considered as the biggest skim-boarding event in Northern Mindanao and was officially endorsed by the Department of Tourism Region 10 as one of the sought-after events to look forward in Northern Mindanao.

Skim-boarding, although considered to be one of the hardest board-sports, is now acknowledged as an emerging alternative and extreme sport in the region demonstrated by the increasing number of skim-boarders throughout the province. Hence, the Skim-boarders’ goal is to glide across the water surface to meet an incoming breaking wave, and ride it back to shore.

“The 3^rd installment of the SHORE-BREAKS will be a promising season as we are expecting an all-out celebration of the board-sport with the growing acceptance of the sport resulting to numerous support services coming from local, national, and even international brands.” – said by Mr Clement Dampal II, the Project Director of the Event. “A crowd of spectators alike will surely gather to witness the full swing tournament with the participants competing each other bravely with the board-sports elements and announced as the Ultimate Shore-Breaker.” added by Ms Bjanesha M. Emphasis, the Resort's General Manager.

This year, SHORE-BREAKS 3 will be having 3 different categories namely Kids Category which is open from 7 years old to 15 years of age, Advance Category open to all advance skim-boarders, and Masters Category for Professional skim-boarders. It will start on May 20, 2017 (Saturday) with a Skim-boarding Clinic from 7am until 11am. Opening Program with Oath of Sportsmanship will start at 12:30nn, to be followed by the actual competition. Around 1pm will be the start of the Kids Category Elimination Round to be followed by the Advance Category Elimination Round at 2:30pm. Then, at 04:00pm will be the Masters Category Preliminary Round. On May 21, 2017 (Sunday), the competition will continue for the final round for each category mentioned. It will be hosted by Mr Steve Norman Ebonia, an award-winning Skim-boarder and Surfer.
