Who would have thought that the tallest divine mercy shrine in the world can be found in the Philippines. And who would have thought that it is located in Northern Mindanao. Surprised? well, its what you call "the reality"!
So, what am I talking about here? Well, I am basically posting about the Tallest Divine Mercy Shrine in the world! You heard it right! the tallest in the world! Well, yeah, the shrine is located at Divine Mercy Hills overlooking Macalajar Bay in the city of El Salvador, 4th class city in the province of Misamis Oriental (wikipedia.org).
The shrine has a 50-foot statue of the Divine Mercy Christ which was completed in the spring of 2008. It serves as a pilgrimage site for the Divine Mercy devotees. As a pilgrimage and sacred site, visitors are not allowed to wear shorts and other revealing clothing. Those who do so will be forced to cover themselves with a blue cloth provided by the shrine administrators.
Well, I can proudly say, "I've been there!". :-)
Check my photos:
(See?! we are obliged to cover ourselves with a blue/red cloth since visitors are not allowed to wear shorts in which at that time, we did wear. lmao)

On Sept. 8, more than 20,000 pilgrims journeyed to Divine Mercy Hills on the island of Mindanao for the dedication and blessing of a 50-foot Divine Mercy statue and to celebrate the Blessed Mother’s birthday. The Marians of the Immaculate Conception will have a key role in the building and administration of the proposed interdiocesan Divine Mercy Shrine on this site.

WOW! I never thought it is located in the Philippines. I've been to this country way back before but I was not thinking of this place. It is more gorgeous than the "Christ the Redeemer Statue" at Rio de Janeiro and much more taller (it is indeed the tallest divine mercy shrine in the world today). It is a real tourist site! Two thumbs up for this article Clement.
